Match Report |
Playing 10-a-side at the picturesque Quarters Ground in Hursley, Sparsholt U9s lost the toss and were given the chance to bowl at a confident Hurlsey Park team. Some spirited fielding was not matched by the bowling performance that saw too many wides gifting runs to the home side. With some boys playing their first competitive game, our bowling just wasn't tight enough and Hursley Park's latter order were able to build a good score on a pitch with a short boundary. Chasing 310, Sparsholt's batting didn't get going quickly enough, with surges of momentum and solid boundary shots curtailed by giving away cheap wickets that cost runs (minus 55 runs!). A valiant effort by the final two batting pairs made the score respectable, but alas, too little, too late for the U9s this week. Many thanks to Bill F-P for scoring and all parents and boys for making the trip. Great fun had by all, but half-term lethargy will need to be worked off at training Monday.
