An excellent win for the boys today at Compton & CF CC. Sparsholt Won by 64 runs, 319/6 vs 255/8. Harry White as Captain today started off as we meant to go on, by WINNING the toss and electing to field first. A great bowling and fielding performance kept the Compton total down, with some safe wicket keeping from Archie E-G meaning that byes did not feature in the Compton innings. Accurate bowling by all was headed by Oscar Kipps taking 3 wickets for 1 run, and Archie E-G taking 2 wickets for 4 runs. Charlie Bentley took a wicket in his first over and bowled, fielded an batted very well indeed, showing that he is a young Year 2 boy with a lot of talent. Chasing a modest total, Sparsholt’s opening pair of Bentley brothers built a sound foundation, that was then taken forward by each pair who communicated well and chased runs all afternoon. Notable knocks by Archie E-G (26), Owen Thomas (22) and Henry Thomson (19) was enough to take Sparsholt over the line comfortably. What was pleasing was the communication today, both when batting and fielding, and witnessing all in the team enjoying their cricket. Thank you all for making the boys available, particularly those who had older siblings in cup final games at the same time. Still managing to get the boys to Compton, even with husbands away, is much appreciated. Thank you all !
