Disappointment for Sparsholt

Sparsholt 59 all out lost to Paultons 60 for 1 by 9 wickets
It was a weekend to forget for Sparsholt CC as batting collapses and fielding errors cost them dearly in their league and T20 fixtures.
Under clear skies on Saturday at Locks Lane, Sparsholt, sponsored by Cala Homes, elected to bat first in a bid to continue their winning streak.
However, that was always going to be a difficult task, after they posted just 59 in their 23 overs in the middle.
They looked to be off to a steady start as Sparsholt's openers moved swiftly to 30 without loss, before Paultons seamer Anthony Richmond produced 4 for 16 from his 10 overs to bring Sparsholt to their knees.
Paultons cruised past the target with the loss of just Nathan Feltham, stumped off Mike Doubell.
Sparsholt travelled to OT & Romsey on Sunday for the first Southern Electric T20 fixture.
Electing the bat, the hosts compiled 174 for 6, largely thanks to Rob Newman's rapid 78.
Mike Haworth (3-37) and Alex Dilley (2-35) were able to slow the run rate slightly, however 175 turned out to be more than enough.
Despite Kyle Ruffell's 55, Sparsholt were bundled out for 115 as only Stu Tognarelli and Dave Gough managed double figures.
It was a similar story for Sparsholt II, who travelled to Wherwell.
A memorable debut for Mungo Patterson (6-31) restricted Wherwell to 195 from their 45 overs, however that was too much for the visitors.
Patterson then chipped in with 26 not out, as captain Andy Pryce (31) and Andy Steggall (18) combined to help Sparsholt to 157.
After the highs of the previous week, it was a disappointing weekend all round.
The First XI travel to Hursley Park on Saturday looking to pull away from the two relegation spots; and on Sunday host Eversley in the National Village KO Hampshire Final - this game starts at 1:30pm & the team need all the support they can get to motivate them further into getting to Lords!
