PHAGAMI FELLS FAWLEY
>
> SPARSHOLT 212 for 9 beat FAWLEY 97 all out by 115 runs.

> Seventeen year old Nayam Phagami (pictured) was the star of the show at Fawley on Saturday as CALA Homes sponsored Sparsholt won their penultimate game of the season, thereby consolidating their mid table position. Phagami, with only a handful of first team appearances behind him, took the last five wickets, four of them clean bowled, for just six runs to finish off the Fawley innings giving the 'trees' a comfortable win. Fawley won the toss, and chose to field first, Stuart Tognarelli (25) and Mike Haworth added 37 for the first wicket, both benefitting from dropped catches early on. Haworth went on to complete a fine 56, but with stand in skipper Dave Banks (brilliantly caught by Paul Marks inches from the ground) and Tom Foster going cheaply, it was again Jamie Skeoch (38) who steadied the middle order with good support from Kiwi Kyle Ruffell (32). Sparsholt's innings closed at 212 for 9, Wayne Smith (4 for 36) being Fawley's most successful bowler with Ben Bolton and Alex Foster taking two wickets each. Ruffell (2 for 17) removed danger man Marks early on, bowling tightly with Haworth as Fawley limped to 29 for 2 off 14 overs. Tom Foster (2 for 20) and Nick Doubell then reduced the hosts to 58 for 5 before Phagami completed the demolition of a weakened Fawley batting line up. On Saturday, Sparsholt is it Hartley Wintney for their final league game of the season, while on Sunday they play in the plate final of the Southern League T20 Cup at the Ageas Bowl. The twenty over a side match against Langley Manor starts at 11am, admission is free.

> SPARSHOLT 138 for 1 beat BASINGSTOKE & NORTH HANTS 137 for 7 by 9 wickets.

> Andy Pryce's second team finished their league season with a convincing win after inserting visitors Basingstoke and restricting them to 137 for 7 from their 45 overs. All the bowlers contributed to making runs difficult to come by with ex first team captain Mark Stone (3 for 13), Dan Pickering 1 for 16, Jon Sankey 1 for 14 and debutant Will Putt 1 for 21 taking wickets. Later order batsmen A. Stringer 21 and G Watts 35* batted sensibly in a good stand to take the score well past 100 which looked unlikely earlier.
> Another old boy, Rob Carslake (only available very occasionally now as he lives and works in Sussex) struck a fine 68 not out as Sparsholt cruised to victory in 27 overs. Tom Wilson added a fine 51, his second half century in recent weeks as these two and Jon Sankey took the team to victory. The result means that Pryce's men finish in 8th place in Hampshire County Division 4 North (18 Teams) with 7 wins from their 14 completed games.

> UNDER 17's BEATEN IN COUNTY CUP FINAL
>
> Despite an excellent 51 from Phagami, and 35 from Harry Talks Sparsholt's 130 was not quite enough to win against a strong OT's and Romsey side. Sparsholt plays at a very high level given they are just a small village club, and to make it to the final of the Hampshire Cup was a great achievement for the team, having beaten last year's winners Basingstoke in the semi final. Chasing 131 to win, Romsey batted aggressively right from the start, however with 9 overs to go Sparsholt were still in with a chance, the run rate having crept up to 6.5 per over, but with Harry Tulks scoring an unbeaten 50, supported by contributions from the other top order batsman, Romsey pushed on and closed the game out in the 17th over.
