SOUTHERN ELECTRIC LEAGUE DIVISION TWO
OTs & ROMSEY 259-6 beat SPARSHOLT 228-7 by 31 runs
It was another disappointing display in the field for Sparsholt CC on Saturday, as the Cala Homes sponsored side fell to their 6th defeat of the season, at OTs & Romsey.
After a tense finish the previous week, another strong batting performance would be required as OTs posted 259.
Put in to bat by Sparsholt skipper Andy Worth, the hosts maintained a good scoring rate throughout the innings despite a flurry of late wickets.
Jody Brown (42) and Will Edwards (55) controlled the bulk of the innings, while all five Sparsholt bowlers shared the wickets, Jon Vokes the pick with 2-57.
Openers Stu Tognarelli (26) and Mike Haworth (53) set a cracking pace in reply, racing to 67 before the introduction of Chris Wood's (3-28) slow left armers.
Regular wickets fell throughout the chase, as Kyle Ruffell (27), Lewis Dunford (35) and Tom Foster (21) all wasted strong starts to leave the lower order too much to do.
Ultimately, Sparsholt would fall 31 runs short, as OTs continued their winning streak.
Andy Worth (21*), Alex Dilley (21) and Nick Doubell (14*) saw out the overs to claim a consolation 5th batting point and remain just one point behind eighth placed Hambledon.
Sparsholt welcome Fawley CC to Locks Lane on Saturday in search of a 3rd league win.
