Sparsholt link up with Naomi House

Lifelong cricket fan and ex-Sparsholt player Colin Lovegrove joined up with the club to donate a gift to Naomi House and Jacksplace. The giant teddy bear, kitted out in Sparsholt’s new Cala Homes branded shirt and a cap, had been won by Colin in a raffle during the club’s pre-season band night. He said, “I thought that keeping it in the family might cause too many arguments, so I decided to donate it to charity. We decided to dress the bear in a Sparsholt shirt – it’s actually my shirt that we gave it.”
Colin and Club Vice-Chairman Richard Edwards went to deliver the bear, which will be used to raise money for The Caterpillar Appeal, where the hospice are looking to fully refurbish Naomi House and bring their facilities right up-to-date.
Peter Abrahams, Supporter Services Team Leader at Naomi House, said “We are really grateful to Colin and the club for donating the teddy to us. We will now use that at one of our events to raise much needed funds for Naomi House & Jacksplace. It will make a brilliant raffle prize and will certainly attract some attention.”
“2014 is going to be a very exciting year for Naomi House and Jacksplace. The team here at the hospices are always looking for ways to further improve our service for life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families.”
“Without the tremendous generosity of individuals, businesses and groups in the community, we could not keep the doors of Naomi House and Jacksplace open, so once again thank you, it does make a big difference.”
Cala Homes will shortly be starting their new prestige development in Winchester at Barton Farm. For more information on The Caterpillar Appeal, you can visit www.caterpillarappeal.org.uk.
