Wraysbury 293-5 defeated Sparsholt 233 all out by 60 runs
SOUTHERN ELECTRIC LEAGUE TWO
Fawley 222 all out defeated Sparsholt 215 all out by 7 runs
Sparsholt's National Village cup run ended on Sunday, as Berkshire champions Wraysbury CC were too strong at Locks Lane.
Sponsored by Cala Homes, the hosts got off to a great start, claiming two wickets inside 5 overs.
However, from there it was one way traffic as Raheel Yasin (71) and Jayesh Mohan (96) combined for a 150 run partnership before a quick fire 60 not out from Nareem Baig carried the visitors to 293 from their 40 overs.
Despite such a tough ask, the hosts seemed up for the chase as openers Stu Tognarelli and Mike Haworth (24) scored steadily for a 79 run stand.
Regular wickets stifled any chance of a real challenge as, despite Tognarelli's 74 and a brisk 33 from Ed Jenner, Sparsholt fell 60 runs short, all out for 233.
The loss only added further salt to their wounds, as Saturday's league clash with Fawley saw Sparsholt fall 7 runs short of a much needed win.
Sent in to bat by the hosts, Fawley compiled 222 all out thanks to useful knocks from Kieran Earl (44) and Tom Gates (96).
Jon Vokes (4-38), Mike Haworth (3-40) and Mike Doubell (2-33) did the damage to dismiss the visitors in the 45th over.
A middle order collapse proved costly for the hosts as their 3rd, 4th and 5th wickets all fell within 2 runs after Sparsholt had eased to 90-2.
Fighting knocks from Mike Haworth (54) and Lewis Dunford (53) kept the chase together before skipper Andy Worth (33) took his side close.
Unfortunately, Jon Vokes impressive all round day display was in vain, as he was left stranded on 19, seven runs short of victory.
The loss leaves Sparsholt in 9th on the table and in desperate need of a win as they travel to Langley Manor next weekend.
