Successful Season

A successful season for Sparsholt as a club with the NVKO side winning the Hampshire group and progressing to the National Rounds for the first time in 10 years.
The first team under the captaincy of Andy Worth managed to avoid relegation with a fine run of victories keeping them safe. The return of Tommy Viljoen and availabilty enabling stronger sides to be put out for August. Kyle Ruffell had an excellent season as the clubs overseas scoring 499 runs in league cricket and taking 27 wickets. Jon Vokes had another great season with 28 wickets playing every game. Stu Tognarelli following a tricky start scored over 500 runs with some timely contributions. The youth of Mike Haworth , Tom Foster and Nick Doubell all showed their potential and are demonstrating their ability to become match winners at first team level. The Experience of Andy Worth , Mike Doubell and Martyn Ballands all contributed in steering the side to some crucial victories and bonus points.
The seconds had tricky season with availability issues , but had some excellent victories to keep the safe, vital for the club under the new Hampshire leage restructure. ( more to follow)
The Thirds under the guidance and control of Martin (tartan) Patterson continues to be a great foundation for the transition from junior to senior cricket with many great perfomances from the youngsters including Jesse Ribiero, Will Rowe, Tom Proctor and Olly Hall. Supported by the old guard of Patteron, Rob Matthews , Jose Ribiero ,Steve Rowe and the evergreen Chairman Harlow.
The new under19 side proved a resounding success with many of the under 17's playing in the under 19's along with two players from Fairoak in each game. The coloured kit, the music and the atmosphere showed the club in a great light and demonstrates our committment to youth cricket and ensuring the "inbetweeners" stay in the game.
The youth section had another successfull year with strong sides in the 15's, 13's, 11's and 9's. With a number of players gaining County representation.
