The opening phase of the Southern Electric t20 Plate competition for first round losers on Sunday July 13 is to have an experimental look.
Instead of being involved in a straight knockout, the 12 competing clubs will play at four different regional venues, as below, with the winning sides qualifying for the semi-finals.
Hook & Newnham Basics, New Milton, Totton & Eling, and Waterlooville are invited to host two matches on the same Sunday afternoon, starting at 12.30pm.
The format is -
Group A : Fernhill, New Milton
12.30pm Fawley v Langley Manor
4pm: Winner v New Milton
Group B: Hook & Newnham Basics
12.30: Sparsholt v St Cross Symondians
4pm Winner v Hook & Newnham Basics
Group C: Totton & Eling, Southern Gardens
12.30 Calmore Sports v Portsmouth & Southsea
4pm Winner v Totton & Eling
Group D: Waterlooville
12.30 Liphook & Ripsley v Waterlooville
4pm Winner v Portsmouth
Quote from Mike Vimpany Competition organiser "I am conscious 13 July is World Cup final day – Costa Rica v the USA – so we may have to juggle the times. It may be the 4pm start cane be brought forward.
The four host clubs will be invited to lay on ‘teas’ for the two games and have suitable bar facilities.
Apart from Hook & Newnham Basics, the venues all have plentiful dressing room accommodation."
